VISITOR INFORMATION/PLANT TOURS
On behalf of Iowa Ham, it is our pleasure to welcome you to our Iowa facility.
Your visit to our plant, as with you, is very important to us. Iowa Ham
is a meat processing plant, and we must maintain the highest standards
of compliance to protect your personal safety, the safety of our employees,
and the safety of the company’s products during your visit. Please take
a moment to review the information below which summarizes our expectations
while you are here. We hope that your visit to Iowa Ham will be enjoyable, productive and
mutually beneficial.
PERSONAL SAFETY COMPLIANCE EXPECTATIONS
You will be expected to sign in upon your arrival to the plant. You
will be issued a "stick-on" name identification tag which should
be visibly placed on your jacket, shirt or blouse. You will be escorted
by a representative of Iowa Ham at all times during your visit. In case
of an emergency evacuation of the plant, you will remain with an Iowa Ham’s
representative who is familiar with our evacuation procedure. If you
are visiting the production areas of our plant, you will be issued disposable
hearing protection for your safety. Also, you should wear comfortable
and flat-soled footwear in the plant.
FOOD SAFETY COMPLIANCE EXPECTATIONS
Prior to entering the production areas of the plant, you will be issued
and MUST WEAR the following apparel:
- A white-colored frock for all cooked product areas.
- A disposable hair net to enclose all scalp hair.
- A beard net to cover all facial hair (i.e. beards, mustaches)
- Disposable outer footwear which are put on over regular
shoes. All jewelry must be removed prior to entering the plant.
Be aware that you may be required to walk through foot baths and asked
to wash your hands at several locations in the plant.
DIRECTIONS
Independence facility
Directions to Iowa Ham, from Waterloo
Follow Highway 20/380 East, continuing on Highway
20 to Independence first exit. Then go
north on Iowa Avenue to First Street NW in Independence. Right on First
Street to 9th Avenue NW. Left onto 3rd Street NW.
Directions to Iowa Ham, from the Cedar Rapids Airport
North on I-380 to Independence exit; then north on Highway 150 to Independence.
Left on 1st Street (where 150N turns right) to 9th
Avenue NW. Right to 3rd Street NW.
Oelwein facility
North on I-380 to Independence exit; then north on Highway 150 to Oelwein.
Turn left on Junction 281, just outside city limits. Travel approximately
¾ miles to Q Avenue. Turn right (north). Follow through Oelwein residential
area and out north end of town. Follow curve to plant, which is on the
right-hand side of the road.
